SYMBIOSIS – SET
Symbiosis International University (SIU) is a private co-educational, multi-institutional university located in Pune, Maharashtra. The University offers academic programs in seven faculties at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The university has 31 Institutes / Departments spread across 5 campuses located at Pune, Nashik, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Noida.
Symbiosis centre for management located in Pune, is one among the best B-school for BBA program. Apart from the regular BBA degree, Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research (SICSR) offers BBA (IT) for students who aspire to build their career in IT industry. Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is the common written test for the admission processes for undergraduate studies in the institutes of Symbiosis International University.
SET is only the first step. Each Symbiosis institute has its independent selection process. Students are short listed for personal interview (PI) and written aptitude test (WAT) on the basis of their performance in SET. SET has five different papers; general, design, law, engineering and health.
SET 2018 Eligibility
Students who wish to pursue BBA program through the institutes of Symbiosis University should appear for SET (General). The eligibility criteria for SET 2018 are as follows:
- Passed XII or its equivalent in any discipline from any recognized Board with minimum 50% marks for open category.
- Minimum marks for students belonging to SC and ST category is 45%.
- Candidate who has appeared for their H.S.C finals and awaiting results are also eligible to apply, subject to submission of passing certificate by the notified date.
- Applicants who have obtained 10+2 through Open Universities system directly without having any basic qualification are not eligible for the Course.
- There is no upper age limit for SET (General).

Seat Reservation Policy:
15 % of the seats are reserved for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST candidates and 3% for PWD candidates. Over and above the sanctioned intake 2 seats are reserved for Kashmiri Immigrants.
SET BBA 2018 Analysis
Symbiosis International University conducted SET BBA 2018 exam for admission to under graduate programs in management, mass communication, BCA, economics, liberal arts on May 5, 2018
The test had 4 sections, General English (40 Questions), Quantitative (40 Questions), General Awareness (40 Questions), Analytical & Logical Reasoning (30 Questions). The exam duration was 150 minutes (2.5 hrs) with total 150 questions to be attempted. Each question had 4 options and carried one mark each. There was no negative marking for incorrect answers. The exam was conducted in online mode for the first time
Here is a section wise analysis-
This section had two easy RC passages with 4-5 Q each. There were around 8-9 difficult vocab questions (SET characteristic over past few years). There were 3-4 questions each on antonyms-synonyms, one word substitution & phrase meaning (Easy), analogies ¶ jumbles (Easy). Verbal Reasoning questions were based on deductive reasoning, cause & effect statements, implicit-explicit assumptions (1-2 questions each).
Except vocabulary questions, the section was easy and doable
This section had easy 6-7 Data interpretation questions. Other topics were numbers (2Q), averages & percentages (3Q), simple & compound interest & partnership (2Q), Time-Speed-Distance, work &effort (6Q), mensuration (2Q).There were a few questions on equations. There were no questions from modern math. Overall, it was a like a typical SET BBA quant section
Quite a few questions were asked from static GK topics like economic terms, national insignia, establishments, books-authors & general sciences. Around 40% questions were from current affairs topics like awards, sports & personalities. Thus, it was once again a representative GK section & similar to past exams. Overall difficulty level was moderate.
Analytical & Logical Reasoning
Key topics tested in this section were coding-decoding (3-4 Q), matrix arrangements (8-9 Q), family tree, directions, logical puzzles, odd-man-out (2-3 Q), groups and conditionality. There was no syllogisms based question. This section was easy
Overall difficulty level of the paper was easy-medium & good scores across sections to qualify for PI-WAT stage should be as follows
